Because I am grateful for color.

I have to admit, my love for make up stems partly from the fact that it is supremely colorful and comes packed in beautiful little delicate packages. When I see something I like, I immediately think of how it'll look clustered with all my other stuff on my oh-so pretty dressing table. I love walking into shops like M.A.C , Inglot, Dior, YSL where they have walls and walls lined up with one fancy product after the other. Maybe one lady sitting for a make over, small girls hovering around the lipsticks , trying it on and doing a horrible yet adorable job of it. Some trying to find the exact shade of their skin for foundation, which pretty much defeats the purpose or some just like me, for the juicy lip balms and kajal sticks, but mostly for the whole experience. It just highlights my senses in a weird, automated way. I want to feel pretty, I want to feel desirable, and then, just like that I do.

I love eye make up! And I love every product made for the eye, be it kajal which is ofcourse my most favourite product, or mascara or eye shadow. Anything at all! If your eye make up is well done, then just by that, chances are that you're going to be turned out okay.

Inglot has some fabulous new products, such as the eyeliner gel. It is definitely worth a buy. It is very smooth and hardly smudges and stays put for what seems like an eternity. Plus they have it in some delicious shades.

M.A.C lipglass. M.A.C. dazzleglass. Enough said.

I love red lipstick. Not the red which has pink in it or mauve, which is usually the case. But bright red lipstick. And the deal with this is that it suits everyone, who has the guts to carry to it. You will hardly find anyone who does not do justice to red lipstick, because if she has the courage to wear it, she'll wear it fabulously. No wonder then it is women like Penelope Cruz, Amy Winehouse, Scarlett Johansson who have made red lips so sexy. And ofcourse Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe, who can't be mentioned in the previous sentence, as nobody ever has and ever will be able to come into their league. Like everything else they stand for, they own the red lips too.

A prayer

God, grant me the...
Serenity to accept things we cannot change,
Courage to change the things we can, and the
Wisdom to know the difference
Patience for the things that take time
Appreciation for all that we have, and
Tolerance for those with different struggles
Freedom to live beyond the limitations of our past ways, the
Ability to feel your love for us and our love for each other and the
Strength to get up and try again even when we feel it is hopeless.
- The Serenity Prayer, Reinhold Niebhur

.

"I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best." — Marilyn Monroe

This is exactly how I feel right now. I don't think I have ever felt this amount of impatience and insecurity in my life. I did not think it was possible to be so negative, so anxious. There is nothing I hate more than feeling helpless and pessimistic. I hate having to draw morbid pictures in my mind, I hate not knowing what to do. To just sit still and wait. Waiting is horrid. It fills an unknowing dread inside of me, I immediately start thinking of the worst. This is why I am such a stickler for punctuality.

"Let them eat cake"

I can watch this movie twice in a go. Once for the love of good cinema, history, queens, royalty and witty dialogues, and the second time in mute. For the fashion, the dresses, the shoes, the make up, the cake, the sets, the extravagance, the floral prints. I am completely obsessing over all of the above, especially the pastel colours, and the shoes! Ofcourse, the shoes!
Before watching the movie I was of the opinion that Keira Knightley would have made a better "Dauphine of France", but I was wrong. Kirsten Dunst plays the role, she was born to, as Marie Antoinette, the Austrian Princess married off to Louis XVI. She does more for the movie than the screenplay which often looses out and fails to be historically accurate quite a lot. That sort of ruined it for me. But the movie nevertheless is a good watch. Jason Schwartzman is interesting, but does not hold a candle to Dunst. Who with her innocence, beauty, regal charm, brilliant dialogue delivery clearly steals the show. She, though is in great competition with Milena Canonera and Veronique Melery who have excelled themselves as the costume designer and the set decorator respectively.
Surely, Veronique Melery, would not mind doing up my house? A tip though, keep lots of cake and pastries in the refrigerator while seeing this movie. You'll need them.

A Graduate!

Yes, As you can quite evidently see, your's truly is a Graduate. An official one, because my university after three and a half effing months, finally, by the grace of God decided to declare the results!
God I feel so relieved, and so grown up. But now a host of things to do like get my provisional transcript, submit visa application and et cetera, et cetera .
So, London here I come!
And just a senti word before I leave you with an awesome song,
A big big hug to ALL of you who made college fun for me, from the terrible chore it use to be.
So this is for you, you guys. Miss fashionista, and you, Pancakes, and ofcourse my besties Palaki, Sonchi, Mehaki, Sash, Anji, Isru, Ishika, Sonam, Soumya who probably won't be seeing this. I love you all the same! Muah.
And for you, who I hope have had the opportunity of having fabulous friends as I have, and for you who loves this song as much I do.

Enjoy!

Up the Faraway tree.

Everybody has a secret world inside of them.
All of the people in the whole world. I mean everybody.
No matter how dull and boring they might seem to be on the outside.
Inside of them they've all got unimaginable, magnificent, wonderful and stupid worlds.
Not just one world, hundreds of them.
Maybe thousands.

Truer words and all that. I, for one have atleast a billion worlds inside of me. Some where I am a princess, some where a fashion model. They often change and grow and are sometimes discarded for newer worlds, fancier worlds. But somewhere within me, in my unconscious, they stay. I never really forget them. I think they help me grow, to introspect. To visualise where I see myself. To realize what I see myself as. These worlds are my aspirations, they exist not only in fantasy land but in a parallel reality. And whenever life gets a wee bit dull and stagnant, I delve into those faraway lands. To seek courage.
So, what are your worlds? What to do they signify to you?

Aren't these pictures very pretty? From Diite Isager, Andrea Klarin and Google Images.

The Great Shakespearean Quest.

I cannot wait to get started on The Great Shakespearean Quest, that I have so bravely undertaken. If any of you, read Julia Quinn, and have read Dancing At Midnight, you know what I am talking about. I just have a few other novels to finish before I start on with this, a few of Aunt Jane's also. I am excited about Mansfield Park, but not so much about Sense and Sensibility, owing to a dear friend. She couldn't stand the novel and has tried her very best to dissuade me, and believe me when I say she can be very persuasive. But I, of strong mettle did not yield.
So, about the Quest, well I've always wanted to read Shakespeare but haven't really gotten around to it. In school we read only two complete and unabridged plays. Julius Caesar and Richard II. Loved the former, of course who doesn't? And about the later well, It was a text forced on us, The class wanted to read Shaw's Pygmalion but the staff did not agree. So we took on the task grudgingly, but although I thought Richard II was a complete boor I enjoyed reading the play.
I remember how well I had grown to know the play JC, I could recite the text as well as I can the lyrics of Strange and Beautiful. I knew exactly how many "But, Brutus is an honourable man" were there in Antony's speech. My favourites were Antony and Cassius. I loved Cassius because no matter how sly, no matter how shallow, no matter how self centered, he never once pretended to be anything but himself. Especially to himself. And, Antony of course because he was the quintessential friend. He loved Caesar for whatever he may be, and took it on himself to revenge the blood of his friend. But Brutus, he simply lived under a misconception. He thought himself to be a good friend, a noble person, a but in truth he failed to be all. I found him to be of weak mettle, easily swayed and dishonest with himself. And that is putting it mildly. I think everybody was a little heart broke when Caesar said "Et tu, Brute then fall Caesar" and gave up trying to fight for life.
Anyway, the point was that I loved reading Shakespeare, and want to resume the habit. So following the path of Arabella Blydon, the protagonist of the JQ novel I spoke about, I decided to undertake the Quest.

Apparently, Caesar was struck 23 bloody times, but it was only when Brutus stuck him that he died. That swine, sorry but I detest Brutus.

The, too famous, balcony scene is Romeo and Juliet. Romeo must be in to gymming and weights and stuff man.

The Mercy Speech in the Merchant of Venice. I love Portia! I think she invented noteworthy arguments!

Anyone who knows me, will easily guess that I chose "Romeo and Juliet" to be the first play to read, but the version I prefer, is currently not available. So I settled for the "Merchant of Venice". I had read the abridged version in school, and loved the famous Mercy speech. But now the compulsive me remains unsatisfied. There are too many plays to be read and I possibly can't chose the order according to my whims and fancies. It's too messy. I need an order, so either I could go alphabetically or chronologically or by genre. Do you have an idea I could use?
Also, I found this. And I shall be, hopefully, studying in London then, so I will not miss it for the world!!
Eloisa James, one of my favourite historical authors is also a Shakespeare Prof. and she adviced me to see as many movies I can see, in her words, "Shakespeare was meant to be seen, not read" True, that.
I have never seen theatre, and so I am pretty excited about the whole thing. Talent behind a camera is one thing, talent without a retake is quite another. I can hardly wait to get started!
And, you have to see this.

Although I have my doubts if pink would be Shakespeare's preferred colour.

Fav Moments - I

"I'll have what she's having" Haha. Meg Ryan is amazing, almost orgasmic.

Legally Blonde, Court scene. I feel the triumph as if it's my own.

I can watch this movie a hundred times on repeat, just for this scene.

As opposed to every one's favourite scene where Anna says "I'm also just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her", this is my favourite scene, although that is a lovely moment! Oh, and I love the way Spike tells William "You daft prick" when he rejects Anna!

So what are some of your favourite on screen moments?

Talent, that runs deep.

Okay, so apparently there are photographers and then there is Annie Leibovitz. A friend of mine is studying photography and art and can't seem to have enough words for her. Very uncharacteristic.
But then she dropped the magic words, Disney, Football players, and Fashion magazines.
And really, which girl could have resisted? She is a portrait photographer, and has done some fabulous work with Disney. Really, when I see talent like this, I feel proud, and worthless all at the same time.

"Where every Cinderella story comes true"

Scarlett Johansson as Cinderella

"Where your every wish is our command"
Whoopie Goldberg as Genie.

"Where a whole new world awaits"
Jennifer Lopez as Jasmine, Marc Anthony as Alladin.

"Where wonderland is your destiny"
Beyonce as Alice, Lyle Lovett as March Hare, Oliver Pratt as Mad Hatter

"Where you are the fairest of them all"
Rachel Wiesz as Snow White

Lord, have some mercy! Okay, so it was because of Ronaldo that I chose this picture. But that doesn't mean that the photograph is not amazing. And look at that woman gaping, who can blame her?

There ought to be a law against this kind of heat radiation. Surely it's resulting in Global Warming.
No, surprises that Kaka, with the most clothes on still looks the hottest. Oh, the perks of being a talented fashion photographer.

I have always thought that it's not merely the talent that makes you good behind the lens. Its a lot about your thought process, your creativity, and doesn't this picture just prove that to be correct?Penguins, with a group of Men in tux. And making that look not only good, but logical, plausible, is surely a talent in itself

Pretty women made to look even prettier, make for a pretty picture.
Not to mention, the pretty dresses.

If ever the Queen, can be made to look more regal, yet humbling, this is surely it. Fairytale Royalty.

Weather she's making fairytale campaigns, photographing half nude football players or the royalty itself, her work is not merely a picture. Not just a click of a button. Her work is a piece of art. There is a depth in it, humanity in it, yet its larger than life. I bow to thee, Annie Leibovitz.
